L I F E / Productivity Playlist

While working or reading, listening to something that makes you want to sing or dance along doesn't do any good for productivity. At least for me it works like that, for such moment I rather like more monotone music that doesn't invade and disturb other thoughts.

Ever since Philips gave me their new CitiScape earphones to test out, they haven't left my work area. Usually I don't wear earphones when listening to music, but while working from home it has been really nice to isolate myself completely by putting them on and being able to focus without any sound distractions. It definitely helps that the ear pieces are super soft an comfy, after a while you barely even notice they're there.

Here are five of my favorite songs that I put on when shit really has to get done:

Glasser / Apply
SBTRKT / Atomic peace
Massive Attack / Paradise circus
Gazelle twin / I turn my arm (Alixander III mix)
Sigur Ros / Glosoli

Dit is de zoveelste Philips cityscape earphones post van deze week, maar jij hebt 'm wel weer heel fijn vormgegeven. Mooi gedaan! :)

Love Massive Attack. Been a fan of there's for years now, but until now I somehow managed to skip their amazing song 'Atlas'.

I really understand your thoughts about hearing happy tunes during work. It doesn't work for me either. Unfortunately I can't hear any music at all while working. It's just too disturbing and I have to sing along as well.

PS: I love how you made up your advertorial part. Your kind of advertorial doesn't make me feel like an idiot, reading overly amazed comments about products like: "Oh my god, they are so cool and you can order them in four different colors! Amazing you have to try!"

I don't feel cheated by your clear opinion and your 'advertorial' sign, so it's a great idea. And I'm happy for you, that you can earn money with the thing you love.

Greetings! xx

I was just thinking of this while studying. I really can't concentrate when a song playing has signing in it. Going to check out some of your playlist now.

Mmmh beautifully styled shots as usual.

How are the headphones? how is the sound quality?

I love SBTRKT. If you like them, also check out Purity Ring.

Ik vind het prettig dat je duidelijk aangeeft dat het een advertorial is, maar dat het niet uit de toon valt met de rest van je posts. Maar moet eerlijk bekennen dat ik knettergek wordt van alle cityscape earphones posts op alle blogs.

I really agree, I never understood how people could be blasting club music while trying to concentrate, it's such a distraction and makes me anxious. I actually opt for classical or instrumental music sometimes.

Ik had zelfs nog niet van de earphones gehoord, maar ik ga je playlist alvast eens beluisteren. Met dansbare beats werk ik inderdaad ook minder productief :)!

Thanks for sharing, great list! Glasser-Apply has been one of my favorites lately too. I love all these artists, and I love that we have such similar taste in music :) I'm intrigued by how aesthetic taste translates across different senses. It seems people with similar visual taste gravitate towards the same kind of music and vice versa. I wonder if that's the case for food, fragrance, and textures.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! Unless it's slow music with nobody singing, and preferably nature sounds... I cannot focus. House, hip hop, even orchestra music just makes me want to dance or think of dance routines.

Just received my check for $500.

Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much you can get by taking paid surveys online...

So I show them a video of myself getting paid $500 for doing paid surveys.
