A C C E S S O R I E S / Parallelogram Ring
ring: Topshop
glass container: iittala
Yes, I gave in. I caved and clicked through add to bag all the way to checkout on Topshop dot com within minutes after seeing this flat diamond figure to wrap around your finger. A downright impulse buy. The ring has already lost much of its charm because of the little scratches that ruined the mirrored surface, not because of its genius design though; a geometric figure in gold with a functional hole. But it made me realise again that next time I should invest in more long lasting jewelry, be that searching the flea markets for high quality metals..or splurging on some Margiela rings that are almost worth rent? I'd rather have a mini collection of valuables as opposed to seeing my cheap jewelry break before my eyes and being trapped in a vicious circle of disposing and replacing."

I LOVE THAT RING*
niiice!
LOVE <3
Totally agree with you, cheap jewelry can be very tempting, especially when the design is very good, but in the long run it always ends up being disappointing, as you can't cherish it for very long and it doesn't age well, as good jewelry does.

You could likely get this cast in a better metal for fairly inexpensively. I think it would be worth the expense. Great design.
i love this design!

that's why i make my own jewelry. it took me almost two years to find the right materials i trust in and that i want to work with but it's SUCH a good feeling to create beautiful items and look just the way i want when wearing them. this one isn't too hard to diy either, just join a goldsmith seminar over the weekend :)

I also plan to not give in to cheap jewellery. Though a lot of it is tempting, it's just too much to have lying around!

cute!
amazing ring!
Fantastic ring! I totally agree with you on the cheaper things :) I've bought exact copies of the Isabel Marant wedge sneakers for 1/3th of the usual price :) And you can't even see the difference :) I'm only a student, I have to work with what I have :)

Such a perfect combination of design and photography. Your layouts are always so inspiring...
lol Laura she was saying that cheaper things don't last as long and she would much prefer to invest in higher quality items
The ring looks great, but isn't it very uncomfortable and unpractical? I'm a big fan of massive rings and bracelets, but this one just looks a little too unpractical to me.
And yes, investing in high quality is always good, but sometimes a little extra is good as well, and it's nice when it doesn't cost too much. I think it's about finding a balance...

I'm constantly buying cheap, novelty jewelry, sometimes it's annoying with the scratches and marks but it's always fun to have something with a story
AMAZING!

eep I so totally know the feeling. I constantly try to tell myself to save up and buy something that feels more significant.... but alas, it's hard! something to be said for quick and dirty shopping. something like, we are slaves to consumerism. ha, xx love your blog to pieces, did a post on you a little bit ago! http://egotrippingatthegates.blogspot.com/2012/05/lucite-and-white.html
love this ring!!

The ring is lovely but I agree that you should spend on a ring that would last you a life time, nothing's worse than walking around with a chipped ring. Ew.
Love that ring.

what I like the most about you and your blog is that you have your strong opinions about design/ products which you are not afraid to share with everyone, you definitely standing out from the crowd thanks to your character, sometimes I catch myself on this that I enjoy reading your texts more than looking at the pictures, not taking it the wrong way, truly inspirational person you are
Beautiful ring, I totally agree though, I do this all the time, buy cheap jewellery & then get so upset when it starts to look a mess & tarnishes so quickly! One trick I like to use is once it's past the point you'd want to wear it, get some matte black or white (or any colour really) spray paint & give it a few coats, it'll last for quite a while & when it starts coming off you can just sand it down & re-spray! :)
simple and perfect
