W E A R I N G / Layering Basics

jacket: vintage
trousers: vintage
sweatshirt: thrifted, worn inside out
docs: ebay (found a couple of pairs in navy and pink)
bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Slowly building a basic wardrobe with almost no colors is paying off; the times of standing in front of a mirror for hours coordinating different pieces together are over. Now I can almost pull out stuff with my eyes closed and it will match because of the black/grey/white pallet. Yesterday I layered an oversized jacket, over a cozy sweatshirt, over a fitted turtleneck, all white - worked out perfectly without looking cluttered.

This is a beautiful outfit I love your aesthetics! The bag in this post is really beautiful--but I'm wondering does it become a pain to carry around when it is full due to its size?

Man, I really need to start investing in basics as well!

"the times of standing in front of a mirror for hours coordinating different pieces together are over"

That's definitely me, ugh! I should never underestimate the power and versatility of a simple piece. Unfortunately, I always seem to gravitate towards "statement" clothes, which just add unnecessary bulk to my wardrobe!

You right! Basics are amazing for combination and volumes experimentation but I have to say that in this outfit the necklace really give a good twist to it!!

Love the simplicity of your style, and the white.

That takes all the fun out of wearing clothes! They should inspire you and invoke creativity...not be easy. That's at least my opinion.

Such a great idea! I loaded up on basics (I have a huge collection of black pants and white t-shirts & blouses) is what saves me most days. I can wear my basic color palette, and then throw in one color to be exciting, and it will work out perfectly 90% of the time. I cannot emphasize how important it is to have a solid collection of neutral pieces to take the stress out of dressing.

Why is the sweatshirt inside out? :) Is it because you were doing it with your eyes closed. ;)))) Seriously though, does it look or feel better this way?

Yes, this really is one of the major perks of having a wardrobe devoid of color! Minimizes the guesswork in dressing and makes mornings less of a hassle :)

Can never go wrong with b/w/g ay? You always seem to look really well put together though, and never the samey outfit twice if you get what I mean, shows what you can do without crazy colours trends etcc..

i love your style. Anyway, I would try some colours. Im sure minimalism does not mean black+white+gray.

My go to outfits are all black because you can layer anything and everything and still pull it off.

Ik benijd je bijna om je zwart/wit kastinhoud. Ik heb zelf érg veel zwart, maar zwicht af en toe toch voor iets kleurrijks.. wat ik vervolgens 1x draag. Je ziet er super uit!
