L I F E / The Spring Selection
shoes: Tibi and Nike
Have you ever caught yourself washing your favorite shirt at night in the sink, hanging it near a heater and hoping that it'll be dry the next morning so you can continue wearing it?
Well, my goal is to have a closet that is only filled with such pieces. An almost impossible ambition because there will always be favorites but the result is that my wardrobe has
minimized to the point where whatever piece I pull from the shelves, I would immediately wear.
A stylist who was recently at my place was -if I may judge from the look of her face- in total shock when seeing how little clothes I owned.
But I don't see the point in having a lot of clothes to 'fill' the gap between what I really love to wear(the stuff that gets washed in the sink) and what Carry Bradshaw's walk-in looks like.
To not get bored with such a small selection, I like to pretend that my closet is a boutique, 'merchandise' it for myself and change the context a bit.
Take the pieces I'm currently into (or what the weather dictates) and arrange them on a separate rack together as a small 'collection'.
Meet my current spring edit!

Je hebt helemaal gelijk! Zelfs al heb je een bomvolle kleerkast, dan grijp je nog steeds naar dezelfde favoriete stukken terug.
I love how they are organized, so nicely arranged
Lovely. It's nice to have that capsule of pieces you know you'll feel good in all day, and won't have to spend the entire morning choosing which to wear.
I'm curios to know, where do you store your less than editorial yet equally essential clothing items? I'm talking about PJs, worn out socks, a little less than presentable undergarments (we've all had a few chewed up by the washing machine!). Thanks for sharing with us your wonderfully manicured wardrobe.
Love your white shoes :D
xoxo
Amen to that!
i have a ton of clothes, and end up wearing the same 5 pieces all the time, because they're my favourite!
your collection looks really good!
that's a playful way to store clothes. I love the idea
Dear Ann,
yes for sure I have some of those too; they are all in one drawer at the bottom where they don't disturb the view haha X
THOSE TIBI SHOES I WILL NEVER GET OVER!!!!:)))
INSPIRING AS ALWAYS!!!!
So smart! I also strive for nirvana, that my wardrobe shall become one big collection and I can match every piece with the other.
I admire you. I think could never do that but sometimes I wish I could. especially when I travel. I am exactly the opposite...
See you in my blog, maybe.

It is such a great point of view, especially in the world we live in, more people should think like you! And the best part is that you have an amazing style, so perfect for you, and you never seem to wear the same clothes! You found your style, and the perfect balance, and I wish I could say the same thing!

I love how you think. You should be wearing the pieces you really love all the time and not just be looking to fill in gaps to have a large closet!

i love you too much for words. i adore your anti-consumerist style sense! such a mature, thoughtful, and SMART point of view!
you have such a good point! I like to think of myself as a collector of clothes, i like to get certain pieces i know im going to have for years if not forever :D

So inspiring, my dream is to have a closet like yours: small but filled with pieces I love, but it is nearly impossible for me.
Imma do this, maybe i wont get bored of my clothe so fast hehe x
you are my biggest inspiration.
It's so beautifully minimalistic. Pretty sure you're wardrobe could form the most perfect, select boutique
It's a LDN Thing
I think I wouldn't mind have a limited number of clothing in my wardrobe... if it means having a wardrobe like yours!
I seriously love the clean and minimalistic style you have! it is so refreshing to see and makes you very unique! <3

yes im in the same boat as well. i feel that i wear the same thing over and over again hah. glad im not alone in this
I'm a bit envious of how uncluttered your wardrobe and style are
I love that your 'edit' features lots of DIY projects, and it's just the kind of simplicity that is so Ivania/Love Aesthetics! Keeps me inspired to continue minimising my own wardrobe.
It takes such discipline to have a tightly edited closet. I wish I could do it...

I really love this concept. I hope to one day break down my wardrobe to the essentials, but until then I will keep editing my closet, and keep donating/selling what I haven't worn in months. It's really not worth keeping around. I find extra clutter causes me a lot of stress.
Haha love annes comment thats what I was thinking!

A very inspiring philosophy you have. I would also like to own such a closet. It will make my fashion experience much more exciting.
Have a nice day,

I guess this post is a sign - I've been thinking about de-cluttering my closet for a while now. Time to start doing it. Thank you for the inspiration, Ivania. :)

You are so right, I think that we begin to get bored to buy shits all the time, the future of a wardrobe is a selected and little one.
I had a huge closet, and I wasn't even wearing 25% of my clothes.
I feel good since I got rid of all I wasn't wearing. And it is more appreciable to buy more expensive pieces but pieces of creators than a lot of zara or H&M
Who needs lots of clothes when you have this? Amazing! xx.
Heel leuk & ZO'n goed idee. Quite a challenge... ;)

Doing right girl!
oh please show us your whole closet at once! i've started to edit my closet every month - and about every month I'm giving like 80% of it to my sister! my goal is to own clothes that i would love to pass on to my kids some day (if im not wearing them ;))!

lool sometimes I put just one item in the washing machine alone just so I wear it again the next day.

I've been following your blog for some time, and I think that you have a very refreshing perspective on personal style. Your emphasis on purchasing versaile, high-quality pieces over impulsive consumerism is positively ingenious - i like the idea of compiling a capsule wardrobe!
what is a difference between vintage, thrifted and second hand? sorry for asking but i can't find it anywhere
in love of the pictures
vintage means that it comes from another era, some define it as at least 20 years old to be from a previous era, if a garment is older than 100 years it becomes antique
thrifted simply means found in a thrift store
second hand means that it used to belong to someone else before, doesn't necessarily mean that it is vintage, sometimes the garment is not old enough to be vintage
hope this helped
Beautiful!
haaha totally! absolutely love this post!

Loving the fact that you "merchandized" your closet. It can only be good for all of us!
