VIDEO | Experiment: Wearing The Same Dress for 30 days
How versatile can a basic piece be?
Versatile enough to be worn everyday to every occasion that comes up?
And if it is, how meaningless will a large wardrobe look?
Will I miss my other clothes?
Will this dress be burned afterwards because I'm so sick of it or will I continue to wear it daily? I'm going to find out by wearing this dress from June 1st every day until the July 1st.
Wearing the same item for a certain amount of time isn't anything new, for example wearing the same jeans for a year. Though while fast fashion is now dying a slow death, this little project seems more relevant than ever.
I'm wearing a COS tanktop in a size large as a dress, later on I found out that there is also a longer, dress version of it.

Great initiative! I don't know if I could... We over-consume, so I'm curious to see all the different styles yo can pull with one dress. Cool video too, btw.
FASHION SUICIDES
wow!
this is a beautiful projekt with a very very good cause. I´m looking forward to it and I´m absolutely sure it won´t get boring (not even for 1 day).
have fun!

oh wow this is so cool. U are so right about the blogging sphere become all about new cloth all the time.. I really looking forward to see the process of your experiment
Cool project!
Maybe it will a relieve. No stress what to wear every day.
looking forward to seeing the results!:)xxx
i absolutely love this idea! i can't wait to see the outcome!
xxx
amazing! i wish i can replicate this challenge!
ah wat ben je leuk :D
this is such an amazing idea!!! good luck with the project
very clever!
i am excited to see this pan out and how many different ways you interpret this one basic item!
i love all your posts, your photos are always so clean and crisp.....i envy them.

this is a really interesting idea! can't wait to see the different ways you style the dress x
Your projects are so inspirering. And what a cute accent you have. Have fun.
sigh, I wish many many many people would watch this (I, myself am very curious about the result of this experiment) and hopefully understand that we already have enough clothes, that creating an outfit is not about constantly buying new stuff and following the new trends. Thanks to people like you who aren´t in that cycle of buying new, cheaply made stuff and then not putting it on again after one usage. I´ll definitely take you as an example :)
Heel leuk idee!
Echt heel gaaf.

Ah, you're ingenious and your voice is lovely! Excited for your next post! :D
This experience will be very interesting... Btw i love the dress, i love your voice, your face, your tattoo..; I love you :D

What a great idea. I'm really curious what experiences you do.
I am so looking forward to seeing what you do. Wish I had the balls to do something like it

Geweldig project, ik ben zeer benieuwd!!
Bring it on!
i cannot get over how amazing you are.

such a lovely voice!
looking forward to it! definitely. :)
i find the angle of sustainability / documenting the quality of the garment throughout + after the period the most interesting, i wouldn't have thought about that factor. i'm interested to see the results, good luck x
This is great, it has so much meaning to it. You dont need a lot of clothes to seem fashionable
thefashionhoarder.blogspot.com
oh my girl! you are quite the catch, i love your personal style as well as your inability to be un-creative... haha
i just reblogged your post because i found it so inspiring!
so just sayin', you're fab lady, and im definitely jumping on the one piece bandwagon as soon as i can minimalize my wardrobe!
love and light
great idea. thanks for sharing the video and all.
Hope you're having a good saturday dear
x
Love this idea, and I can't wait to see how things develop! Plus you look so cute in this video.

I am so excited to see how this turns out!
I do something similar everyday but I have 2 pairs of pants and a couple of shirts... they are all the same style too
what a great video, really cool idea!
I love the idea. It also shows that for a project like this you just have to use something extremely basic and simple. Having these items in your wardrobe and combining them is 1000times better and more meaningful than purchasing complicated multicolour dresses with too maqny decorations.
Thumbs up and looking forward to see your everyday (identical but yet different) outfit!
Marianna
This is really brilliant, I applaud you for doing this!
excited to see how the project goes!

Great idea! I'm excited to see the results of your experiment.
I've been working on minimalizing my own wardrobe and getting away from the societal fear of wearing the same clothes fairly often.
I definitely prefer having a smaller wardrobe than an immense one, and I'm sure the people at the thrift store have loved my donations. :P
Can't wait to see what you do, its a great dress!

Interesting idea/perspective/concept, I can't wait to see your future blog posts about this.

lookinh forward to see the outcome (your outfits =)) you go girl!!! =)

great! i cant wait to see this. i love the fact your doing this, it just seems that alot of the popular blogs are fighting themselves to buy new things and wear completely different outfits in every single post. Realistically the average person cannot do this and do not really have the funds to buy the new acne shoes or the latest must have. IIt is great hat you are taking inspiration from others who have done this. I know that you will create killer outfits too. Cant wait to see how you do this!
I really like your idea. I've often thought about how easy it was for people in past centuries or even a few decades back to get dress when they had only 2 or 3 dresses to wear. It must have led them to innovate different ways of wearing the same things, as you are doing. Will be looking at your results. Good Luck!
Super idee. Ik ben erg benieuwd!
wow what an amazing experiment. I'm looking forward to your future outfit posts !

I love the idea and i cant wait to see the outcome!
This is AMAZING, so interesting!! you are cool and I admire you
first of all: i have been looking forward to this since you've posted about it on facebook! since my grandfather has told me so much about him deliberately owning nothing but one set of quality clothes throughout the 1950s after he had experienced abstinence during wwII, i am deeply fascinated with artificial needs and true satisfaction, in this case concerning clothing. i love the 6 pieces / one month project and am dedicated to a capsule closet myself.
however, i thought i had found the perfect dress at cos which turned out to be poor material as the fabric turnes stained after i had handwashed it for the 2nd time. i am still SO sad and interested how your dress will turn out. will you carry on with your project even if there will a serious problem with your dress? are there any guidelines?
and will you limit the number of accessories and eventually additional clothes (jacket or tights - it's already june but there is no guarantee for warm weather and your dress is rather airy), too?
cant wait to see the diff looks! great idea
incredible
can't wait to see what you do with it
and BTW, you are tooooo cute
Ik ben echt benieuwd naar de komende maand, so you got me hooked!
you're so cute!!!!
So great! love the idea. xxx
:) Good luck!!

Wat een geweldig idee, can't wait to see how it goes!

this is just brilliant, I love the whole idea (and the dress too!)
It is actually one step back in the past when people use to have less clothes in better quality, I've been always thinking about it with a great respect and I was always thinking about practicing it with my wardrobe ( but somehow it never really worked out...)
anyway, I'm really curious about the results, but I'm afraid that the dress won't withstand in a great condition...
you are so cool girl.
i'm curious for the results.
& you are so pretty nice in this video.
love.
Super!
We zijn benieuwd!

you're inspiring!
Thank you. Please inspire me to shop less. ;-)

Also, this project PLUS your whole blog both fulfil my idea of being creative without having new garments every single day/post. I realized I started to be sick and tired of bloggers who wear their new shorts-shoes-dress-... just once (!!). I m always thinking where the "old" pieces could go....and i feel actually sorry for them...
Marianna
Your blog blows my mind every time and makes me really think instead of shoving more advertising in my face which is why I love visiting it so much. I can't wait to see how it turns out for you. I wore the same long sweater for a week, not as long, but I still wear it a lot now and as a bonus it was like being in school when I had a uniform. I just had to think of accessories and I could throw on my clothes. So you might like it :)
great idea! cant wait to see the outcome

This is such an amazing idea! I always try to find new ways to wear my clothes rather than just adding new pieces and I cannot wait to see your outfits! I love your blog even more now :) Good luck!
I love this idea - you're so right, most blogs it's all about my new this, my new that, trying to keep up with trends etc. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you wear this dress for the month! x
what an amazing idea!!! you fantastic
i love your views on blogging and life in general
you are my idol!
That is soooo cool! You are truly amazing!
jaa!!! D:
What a great idea! Good luck with it and look forward to seeing how you accessorize each day. Really great COS dress too.. is it still available?
Hoe origineel!!
Ik ben benieuwd!

The beauty of your choice is in it's simplicity. I love how the dress falls. I am very intrigued as to what it will look like at the end of your experiment. Good luck!

Omgoodness! Good luck! I don't think I could do it!

So exciting!
Wow geweldig! Heel veel succes!! Het is wel een prachtige jurk!

Best idea someone has came up with on blogger! You are sooo talented, and the vid is filmed soooo good. I love it and can't wait to see :D
i read alot of blogs and never comment but i just had to say well done i think its a fantastic idea! im currently doing a challenge no new clothes for a year (im allowed to buy second hand and make my own) it has REALLY changed the way i look at the things i want to buy.... quality, branding, style longevity... anyway wonderful work cant wait to see what you do with it.... maybe i too will have a go!
at anonymous: Thanks for leaving a comment! Woow a e year, great project too! A friend of mine is doing the same! She is doing it a bit more radically, NO clothes at all. She is allowed to trade though. I'm thinking about doing a post about her soon!
YOU'RE AMAZING!!
i'm looking so much forward to following your experiment.
Love Trine
Love this concept, can't wait to see how it will turn out. I did this with a sweater, but wore it only 7 days in a row! 30 days .. wow!
This is such a great idea, can't wait to follow your journey!
Good luck! Curious to see with what you'll come up!

Love this idea! Your blog really has me reevaluating my wardrobe. I'm going through now seeing which items I don't wear, and seeing which items I could alter to make more wearable.
Will be checking out your blog often to see how you wear the dress!

Good luck with your project! Sending you lots of support. I'm sure you'll get through it brilliantly!
The Eleven Objects collar I'm wearing IS ponyskin :) leopard print with a red poplin collar stand and gold spike as the button. Their collars are really great.
I'm on a shopping ban til September so I'm going to be struggling too for a while. Good luck to both of us! :)
you've inspirde me to do the same ... just not yet, sometime in the future =)
That project is wonderful!!! Could you be any more inspiring??? :O
I have no doubt you'll make it look SUPERB! <3

x
great idea!!! I want to try this too!
Great project, very inspiring!
I like your voice
Hello, it seems you have read the book' To Die For. Is fashion wearing out the world" by Lucy Siegel? She talks about horrendous impact of fast fashion on workers in developing countries and on our planet. Your idea is very good and I will be checking for your updates:) And I see you are fan of COS as myself:)
Regards from London, domi
Love the idea!!!!
This is a wonderful idea and it became a fantastic experiment. I blogged about how it is one of my inspiration on my blog here: http://clean--cut.blogspot.com/2012/01/further-inspiration.html :)
How do you find the rest of her results after the project?
when i was 13 years old, i was kinda OBSESSED with dungarees. i didn´t use the same one for a year, but i was always on a dungaree, in different fabrics, colors, etc.
when you use the same clothe for a long time, it gets part of yourself, and once you change it, people notice. sometimes, they don´t know what they´re noticing, but they know there´ something different about you and cannot tell exactly what.
the experience is interesting, and forces you and your creativity to innovate with limited resources. cheers on your experience.
MEEP!
ivania what is that beautiful cage belt contraption! it's unreal!
you're a delight <3
this is a really interesting idea! can't wait to see the different ways you style the dress x
On the other hand, you don't want to start discussing details about your personal life on your business blog. This also depends on your own personality, your niche and the audience you are targeting. If you would think twice before saying something in a phone call or email to a customer, you should leave it out of your blog.
