BEAUTY | Winter Hair Care

Photobucket

Photobucket

For the last couple of months my poor hair has been mistreated, abused by the blowdryer and nearly bleached to death. But since it´s impossible in winter to have a good hairday anyway, I am going to try to make it up with my hair. Give it a break for a couple of months and give it some time to recuperate so that it will be nice and healthy in spring.

Measures I´ll be taking:
Braiding it or putting it in a (doughnut)bun will avoid the hair from blowing all over the place and getting tangled up. This will reduce chances to getting new split ends and there is also no heat required for these hairdo's. Keeping it extra moisturized is also important as indoor heating dries out hair causing more split ends. I do this with a tiny bit of regular olive oil after washing my hair, which is only twice a week. On a daily basis I spray a bit of oil nutritive wonder serum spray by Schwarzkopf. And lastly I'm going to lay off the peroxide, this will give the new hair a chance to grow and give my scalp a break. I do not mind the dark growth at the root at all, I actually like a bit of a neglected look.

I think I will start doing the same. My hair is a freaking mess. Which oil do you use after shower?

yes bleaching is super hot but it really damages the hair... my has never recover from white/pink/blu bleaching and basically I had to slowly cut it all off... I was lucky that it was pretty short.. but I still miss that hair color and your one is really beautiful shade!

it looks really nice! and hopefully your hair will get better soon!

but once a hairdresser said to me that those strict buns damage the hair even more, because of the hairband, it breaks the hair.. he said :D

so beautiful, and i do so love that color!
as it grows a while, of course you'll have that lovely ombre effect which will be quite "undone" but pretty.
my natural hair color is dark blond/light brown, and i opt for high-lift color and toner instead of bleach and tone. bleach seems harsher.
perhaps a high-lift next time would be a good option for you, and less damaging...it won't get as light as with bleach, but using lilac dye or toner, you can still get that ethereal icy look. :)

You should also try the pink hair mask from l'oreal (the one with pearl protein), it does miracles.

You hair are so beautiful, it's not surprising that it's a lot of work! I guess you already know that, but just in case, why don't you try the Kevin Murphy Color Bug http://www.kevinmurphystore.com/categories/style/COLOR-BUG.htm ? When my hair we'll be longer I will buy that, I can't kill my hair again with some bleaching every month! These color bugs are suppose to do the same without the need to bleach your hair.

Very good tips. I suffer from the same thing, every winter I try to avoid heat on my hair as much as possible.

Hey love your blog! What shade of colour do you use in your hair and which product? Oh and are you originally from the Netherlands?
Keep up the good work!

Love the color.

I do this quite often. I just wash it and twist it in a bun. You always look so beautifully disheveled anyway.

I'd recommend you try WEN haircare product. I really believe in it. (I'm not being paid to say this!) It's a cleansing conditioner so it doesn't wreck your hair.

I'm having giveaway for some here - you should try!

Your hair looks amazing like this! I've only got one thing to say - be careful about slicking your hair to hard back to the bun; my hair is cracking up front... I should actually do the opposite; let it hang loose :)

Gorgeous blog!

I'm obsessed with Paul Mitchell's wild ginger hair oil right now. My hair is super thick and frizzy naturally but adding on all my coloring and heat blasting and its always dry. But this stuff is sooo moisturizing and doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy or oily at all. Its really, really helping!

Ive been doing something similar but I use macademia nut oil! It smells divine, almost like sandalwood but more nutty. It smells so rich and reminds me of Tom Ford cologne:
http://www.macadamiahair.com/products/detail/healing_oil_treatment

Ive had a 4.2oz bottle for 2 yrs... I put it in my hair while it is still wet then after I blowdry it (I wash my hair every two days) and the bottle is still almost full! It is totally good value for your money and it makes your hair super soft and moisturized
