Hair dye: Directions, Lilac and Lavender

The worst thing that can happen to grey hair is that after a few washes a yellow/blonde undertone starts to shine through. A shampoo with purple or blue pigments supposedly stop this from happening, but the effect of it is minimal.
I needed something more radical against the yellow glow on my hair. Temporary hair dye in a pale cool color (opposite of the yellow) was the perfect solution. Dying your hair with this pastel hair dye only takes 15 minutes. I use lilac from Directions, the pastel color changes from a light blue to a pastel fuschia in different light. But after a few washes the color fades and the hair color becomes a cold toned grey.

I've always been so amazed by your hair! I wonder how it'll turn out on other hair colors. I don't think I've ever seen hair dye in that form. Almost seems like some sort of paint for art! Neat!

Great tip for when you have the same issue, I have special shampoo, kind of grey shampoo, for that issue. Works very good!

I'm in serious hair envy! I was wondering how you do hair maintenance with roots growing out? :o I have dark hair, and while I'd love to do something like this, I don't think I have the guts to keep re-bleaching my hair. Still, I love it! :)

You should really try shimmering lights by loreal. It's a purple based shampoo with a toner. It's great stuff!

This is a really nice colour on you. Crazy Colour so a lovely cool lilac too.
Have you tried Loreal Luocolour? I used to use than in shade P01 to get my hair down to a white/gray/lilac shade, and it was quite effective. The best part is that you can control the strength while mixing it to give a strong or sheer effect.

Wow, it must be a lot of work keeping up with pastel-colored hair, but I'd say the end result is worth it :) Now if only I could lift my hair color to a nice, bright blonde to get some cool colors in it, but it's so dark I think it would fall out first.

How light do you bleach your hair before applying? I've been using Directions Silver color for a few months and love it, using Shimmering Lights shampoo/conditioner gives my hair a lilac hue, but I'm looking for a darker grey. Any tips?
