At the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

The Holocaust Memorial in Berlin is the most impressive and beautiful monument I've ever been to. The architect Peter Eisenman arranged almost 3000 concrete blocks in a way to create an uneasy, confusing atmosphere and the gigantic sculpture as a whole aims to represent a supposedly ordered system that has lost touch with human reason.
Underneath is an underground museum that holds the names of all known Jewish Holocaust victims and hosts an exposition where you can see their last postcards sent home, hear the stories of survivors and almost personally get to know the Jewish victims of the second world war.

is a real pleasure to visit your blog, I is considered offensive by a few, as the visitors have now passed the 850,000 to be something right?

I've been to that place when I visited Berlin, and I was very impressed by this installation. I visited it at night and I felt terrified by it! Such a powerful experience!

You look remarkable. And the architecture of the memorial is definitely a good representation of a tragic and stark moment in humanity that all causes us to stop and reflect.

That memorial was the most haunting yet beautiful and humbling experience of my life. The stories of families in the museum below completely drew at my heart strings beyond anything I've ever known. Did you also notice how eerily quiet it gets as you walk through the concrete blocks? When I was walking through them I imagined that this was how quiet the concentration camps were during the harsh winter months. I love Berlin and I am thankful for your posts, such a beautiful reminder of my trip there x

That is my favourite place in the world, I visited it every day when I was in Berlin.
I like how your rose gold cuff adds a tiny touch of warmth to the otherwise grey photos.

LOVE AESTHETICS said...

I'm sorry to have offended you with these pictures Ahem.
But I want to make clear that there was no photo shoot, just me and my boyfriend taking a few snapshots, just like every other tourist. We came to spend a few hours to reflect about what happened during the second world war and to experience the genius artwork. Not to take pictures of some stupid clothes. But I can understand how this can come off as inappropriate. The pictures are solely about the visual aspects of the memorial site.

thank you for your reply - no offense.

I was just directed to your blog via Fashion Copious and absolutely love it! I've heard so many great things about COS and am dying to check it out when I eventually get over to Europe! That top paired with the ASOS cuff is a really good example of how such minimalistic style can still make a really strong statement.

So much history, I hope someday I can visit there in person. But the distinction between the horrors of the holocaust and the beauty you're projecting in the photo's is haunting and amazing at the same time. xo
